Know Yourself, Know Your Worth

Hi good people,
how was your day, hm? Hope it was great ya!

Me?
Yaa, I had a great day too, 1 day more to Friday, yippie!

After office hour, I decided to read my friend's blog (click here to know her amazing talent) and been interested in one of her writing "Who is The Real You?"
Such a title that tickle my mind, and also my fingers to answer that question by this writing :)

Once I read that title, my mind was thinking about Cindy, 25yo, a woman who is growing her career, fasting eat gorengan & ovomaltine jar, love to swim and read etc.

But hey, I was wrong! She talks about people personality.

Related to personality, I always remember a classic quote from Aristotle:

"Knowing yourself is beginning of all wisdom"

Then, Daniel Goleman, the author of Emotional Intelligent book also stated knowing yourself (self-awareness) as the first step to have high EI that lead you to success.

Understanding yourself is not about the skimming the surface like finding a fave color, hobby, music (although they may give you some clues) that you like. Knowing yourself is about delving much deeper.

Knowing yourself is a journey. It is about discovering who you are as a human being -  yes the real you. The journey is unpredictable and engages you deeply as it brings you face-to-face with your deepest fears, self-doubts, vurnerabilities, and insecurities. The journey around knowing yourself can be challenging and scary, however it also changes over time.

As this good web said, knowing yourself means respecting (but not attaching to) your strengths & weaknesses, your passions & fears, your thoughts & feelings, your likes and dislikes, your tolerances & limitations.

Maybe you are wondering why knowing yourself is important.
Tina Lifford has some good words to be shared:

"When you know yourself, you are empowered. When you accept yourself, you are invincible"

Kirri White told me that getting to know yourself doesn’t just happen. It takes conscious effort and a lot of stripping back the layers, one by one.

And guys, It also takes a lot of courage. (But it’s worth it!).

You gain a deeper understanding of what makes you tick, how you relate to the world, what you truly value, your strengths, weaknesses and your triggers or hot spots.

Self knowledge helps you figure out what you want to work on and what you are willing to let go.

Then how does to know yourself?
Phychology introduced MBTI or Myers_Briggs Type Indicator as one of the approach to assess your personality. It makes easier and funnier to understanding yourself by answer some questions ;)

I have took MBTI test, one of requirement test I should pass to join a company, and the result is ESTJ.
Once I read my friend's blog, she puts MBTI test link. I wondered whether the MBTI test result will be the same as the test that I have done before.

ESTJ. still same! hihihi

And still, I smile seeing the description of the result, start from our introduction, strength & weakness, relationship management until career path. It's totally me! lol.

Really getting to know yourself, moves you to a place of self-acceptance and increased self-worth – acknowledging that we all have weaknesses and imperfections and that we can be totally okay about it. Or, we can change!

So yaa, do not hesitate to know yourself, especially in a fun way by click MBTI test link below :)

I am waiting for your result guys!

  1. I directly clicked on the button you suggested and took the test! Personally, I never thought it'd be that important to know myself deeper but after I read your post, it made me realized that I should've done it from a long ago and understood myself better LOL So, thanks to your post now I'll develop my personality and train it well!

(anyway I am ESTJ/A! Still don't know much what it is actually LOL but will figure it out soon!)
